LINSEED OIL

Medical properties

Useful properties of linseed oil were known to people from time immemorial. It was widely used in Ancient Egypt in cosmetology; inhabitants of old Colchis considered it irreplaceable in treatment of burns. In Kievan Rus' this oil was considered very useful and almost irreplaceable product: it was ingested with vegetables during the fast, on its basis they cooked festive foods, added in baked goods for aroma. And in the traditional medicine the linseed oil was simply irreplaceable as well! Useful properties of vegetable linseed oil are caused by its composition. It contains vitamins A, B, Е, K, polyunsaturated acids omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9, and unsaturated fat acids. Linseed oil surpasses products of a usual diet in the content of unsaturated fat acids and only 1-2 tablespoons satisfy daily need for them.

Linseed oil is one of the richest sources of lignins which have anti-cancerogenic action, are antiallergens; also the oil has appropriate antioxidant action and supports hormonal balance of a female organism.

The omega-3 protects joints, counteracting a number of enzymes which promote cartilage destruction, and reduces a pain syndrome, inflammation and injury of joints.

Thanks to the high content of Omega-3 and Omega-6, linseed oil promotes normalization of exchange processes in an organism and has a number of medical properties. It normalizes work of the whole digestive system: improves liver functions, promotes treatment of colitis, gastritis, and eliminates constipation, heartburn. The oil reduces cholesterol level in blood, promotes improvement of skin and hair condition, and increases visual acuity.

Linseed oil is an efficient anti-inflammatory agent, that's why it is used for treatment of burns, wounds, bruise, eczemas, allergic dermatitis. Linseed oil is irreplaceable at complex treatment of lungs and bronchial tubes diseases, nervous system disorders, kidney and urinary bladder diseases, thyroid gland disorders. Moreover, this oil is an important assistant in prostatitis treatment, in regeneration after strokes, chemo- and radiotherapy. Also linseed oil is useful to those who want to lose weight.

Disease Prevention

Diseases are easier to prevent than to treat later. And natural linseed oil will help with it. It is a good preventive measure against the development of myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis, hypertensive disease, coronary heart disease. Also regular consumption of linseed oil reduces risk of a stroke and oncological diseases (the oil is capable to prevent and brake development of malignant processes in an organism). Linseed oil increases immunoprotective properties of the organism, especially good for children's health.

Linseed oil is highly beneficial for women, in particular during the gestation period: it normalizes a hormonal background, positively influences development of fetus, including formation of nervous system.

In open state the linseed oil is quickly oxidized, gets bitter and can be stored only 1,5 months a cool place.

Not Recommended:

If a person is suffering from acute intestinal dysfunction (diarrhea), with acute and chronic cholecystitis in acute stage.

Applying

For prevention and complex treatment linseed oil is taken on 1 tablespoon 2 times per day in pure state or in the form of an additive to ready-to-eat meal, salads.

In cooking

Thanks to pleasant and saturated taste it is widely used in cookery as seasoning of salads. The oil has a bitterish taste. Please note that at thermal processing linseed oil loses its useful properties. It can be applied externally as ointment or compress.
